Twinnies + Restaurant = ....

Last week we met our good friends the Andrews family in Kirkland for dinner. We thought we would be brave and go to a restaurant with the twins. We ended up  going to the Beach House which is a relatively nice restaurant. Lets put it this way, we were the only family in the whole restaurant with kids. Ha! Carter and Chloe did exceptionally well and had no major melt downs to speak of. They had their first french fries  (which they loved) and had a blast just being in a new environment. The floor however did not fair so well. Oh my gosh! Jerame gave our waitress a pretty big tip for the mess she was going to have to clean up after our exit! I have to admit that I was a bit mortified with the mess we made but on the other hand was really excited that the mess was not on my floor to clean up for once! Never a dull moment around here.

Beach House & 11 months old

Last weekend we took a trip to Hood Canal to stay the weekend at my Grandparents beach house. Jerame was able to take Friday off so we had an extra long weekend! This was our first real family trip with just the 4 of us. We had a blast and it was surprisingly really relaxing. I say surprisingly because it is normally really hard to do much relaxing with twins! They slept really well there and had fun playing on the beach & in the pool. We ate really good food and had some really nice bottles of wine. It was so wonderful to be away with our little family.

This week they also turned 11 months old. They have really seemed to make the jump from babies to almost toddlers in the last few weeks. They are understanding & responding to more things that we say. They are also starting to copy us and the things we do which is funny and scary all at the same time. We are to the point of really trying to be more careful about the things we say & do around them. We don't want any of their first words to be bad ones lol! Carter's first word is defiantly Momma or Mom. He says that to everything & everyone. It is funny. They are being much, much more vocal these days and will just babble along for several minutes at a time. I think they have a secret code language because they will just be babbling to each other and it seems like they actually understand what the other is saying because they will just laughing at one another. It's really funny to watch. Carter has taken a few steps now and is starting to be more interested in the walking thing. Chloe still does far more crawling than walking but she is still getting the hang of it. I feel like we are entering a whole new crazy stage as they begin to learn to walk. They have been sleeping so much better at night now and I have said this in many blog posts before...sleep makes all the difference in the world. I think we have had a little break from the teething though so I am sure that has helped them sleep through the night better.

My Mom and I took them to Juanita Beach this week and let them play in the sand & water. It was fun. We are trying to get out and do fun things while the weather is nice. This weekend is supposed to be really hot so I am not too sure what we will do. We might just stay inside our AC house. Here a few pics from the weekend at the beach, some of them are out of order...

We had a bit of a long wait for the ferry on the way over on Thursday night so I let Chloe out of her carseat and she thought it was the coolest thing ever to sit in her carseat without being strapped in. Funny little girl.

I am so cool :-)

This and that...

Some cute ones from the last few weeks...

We got together with my family for dinner to celebrate the arrival of baby Blake.
Dana and the twinnies had so much fun playing together.

The babies got a wagon and love to take little rides in it around our driveway. So cute!
Jerame's Dad came for a visit the weekend before last & we all got together at our house. Skyler and Chloe are only 6 months apart, I think they are already BFF's :-)
Papa Paul & all of his Grand kids

Twinnies learning how to climb stairs.

By the way Chloe is full on walking now. Yesterday she took 8 steps in a row across our kitchen so I am pretty sure that is considered walking!  I will post some video of her showing her new moves.  I can't believe how grown up they are getting.

What a mess

Carter & Chloe are enjoying being big kids now and are eating lots of real food. Meal time is a bit of a circus with food going everywhere (hair, eyes, ears, nose, toes) you name it. Sometimes I think back to the days when they would only drink bottles all day...I had a lot cleaner floors then. But it wasn't nearly as much fun.

Silly Boy

What a funny & sweet little boy he is becoming!

Baby Doll

We went to a friends BBQ a few weekends ago and one of the little girls there had a baby doll. Chloe adopted it and was willing to put up quite a fight for it!

Dance-off

We had such a fun morning dancing around our kitchen...they just love to dance with us. It's so funny!

Whidbey Island & 10 months old

We spent the weekend & the first part of this week on vacation with Jerame's family. We rented a beach front house in Mutiny Bay on Whidbey Island. It was a gorgeous spot and a trip we will all remember forever! All the cousins had a blast playing and it was just so nice to all be together. We went in celebration of Jerame's Mom's 60th birthday. It was so wonderful to share her birthday with her and I know it was just as special for her to have all of her kids & grandkids in one place.
The babies are also now 10 months oldl! Chloe took her first steps yesterday, I think she will be running by the end of August. At least that is our prediction! I don't think Carter is too far behind but he seems pretty content crawling for now. We have gotten our house pretty much baby proofed so it has made our lives SO much better just being able to let them cruise around. They are much happier being able explore than being contained to a small little play area. It is so insane that they will be turning 1 in no time. We have started talking about what we will do for their 1st birthday party and the first thing Jer said was...."We should get a keg". So funny. Totally Jerame style :-)
We are having such a fun summer so far & it's only going to get better. This time last year I was laying on my couch on bedrest, hot, terrified & miserable. No thank you!!
We don't have any major plans this weekend which actually feels so nice. Being away for the past two weekends in a row feels like a lot with two little ones. We are going to visit friends and maybe go to the Bothell parade for the 4th. Here are some pics from the weekend at Whidbey...

Chloe thought it was great to keep stealing her brothers food.
These portable highchairs were so key to our trip. They are great, I
would highly reccomend these to everyone.
