Tummy Time

The babies are doing great and are just little bundles of joy! I took them to their 1 month check up on Thursday and they are both healthy little buggers. Chloe weighed in at 7lbs 14oz and Carter at 8lbs 5oz. Both are in the 10-25th percentile for weight and 50% for height. Pretty good for being twins.

We went to Kirk & Karen house yesterday to watch

The babies are 1 month old! Time is flying...kind of :-). Have I mentioned that we are exhausted? 1 month old = a lot of nights without sleep. We had the babies pictures taken on Saturday by the same photographer that did our wedding (http://www.sandracoan.com/). She is great and also has twins so she can totally relate to what we are going through. The babies were hard when we got there both not wanting to have their clothes taken off. Each of them had at least two poops and were acting famished the minute we got their. Jerame & I were both sweating by the time the session was over. Who knows how the pics will turn out...I really hope good. Other than that there is not a lot new going on with us. Jerame's family from Denver is coming for a visit this coming weekend. We are looking forward to seeing them in Seattle!

Home Alone :-o

I can do it!

My house is quiet at the moment....never thought I would love the sound more. I am trying out the babies by myself this morning. I am doing pretty good so far! We have only had a few minor situations where both babies were melting down at the same time. Its amazing how fast I have figured out how to hold, feed, soothe two babies at once. I wish I had a 3rd arm sometimes but we are managing. Last night when Jeame got home from work I got to go out and go grocery shopping by myself. It sounds weird but since I was put on house arrest in May I really haven't gotten a chance to go to the grocery store and have really been craving a good visit to Safeway! It was weird being out by myself and not being pregnant I actually felt so rejuvenated by the time I got home with a trunk full of grocery's. Ahh the simple things :-)

Just when I think I'm the most tired I have ever been in my life I find that somehow I feel even more tired as the days go by. It's amazing though how little sleep one can actually function on. I think I would choose to sleep over most things right now. Last night was one of the hardest ones yet...little Chloe just doesn't quite understand that nighttime means SLEEP. The minute we put her down she wakes up. I don't think Jerame or I got more than a couple hours each of shut-eye. Poor Jerame he actually has to go out and function in the outside world on such little sleep. Carter only wakes up every 3 hours to eat and then we put him back in his crib and he will just look around & listen to his music peacefully until drifting back to sleep. He is so good! My Dad is over this morning helping me out and both babies are sleeping like angles right now on him...it's really pretty cute. I have to hurry so I can squeeze in a shower before they wake up looking to be fed yet again! Sometimes all I feel like I do all day long is feed the little buggers. They are growing so fast and are turning into little characters. They both smile at us but we are pretty sure it's just reflexes right now...needless to say their little smiles melt our hearts. We had a good weekend. My Mom stayed with us on Friday night so we got some sleep that night. Our big outing this weekend was to go over and visit our friends Kirk & Karen and their new baby Sydney that was born on 9/11. It was a bit of a circus with 3 infants over at their house. We didn't stay long but was nice to get out of the house. It was so funny we were all talking and saying how when we used to go out for dinner it was only the 4 of us now if we were to go anywhere there will be 7! Look out to which ever restaurant gets blessed with our presence. Ha! Better get going before I loose my window to take a shower.

3 weeks old

The twinnies are 3 weeks old today. The days are all melding together and seems like one big blur. We have heard before from twins parents that they don't even really remember the 1st year because things are so hectic. I can totally see why they say that now. Having two infants is really a lot of work and it really takes two people to make it seem manageable. I have been left with the twins just a few times for 3-4 hour stretches and by the time Jerame gets home from work I am in tears and feel like I want to pull my hair out. I think it's just a combination of not leaving the house for days/weeks on end....it's enough to make a new Mom feel like she's going crazy! Tonight I'm meeting up with some girlfriends for happy hour. Jerame has been pushing me to go and do something like that for the past few days. He is such a wonderful support. I might even have a full glass of wine!

The babies are doing wonderful. They are just precious little buggers. Chloe is still our sassy baby and is only happy when she's being held or thinks she's being held. She likes the bottle better than breastfeeding but we are still working on it. Carter is happy if he's full and spends the other part of the days/nights sleeping. He is so easy! I guess I shouldn't say that too soon because things could change quickly I'm sure. We are so in love with our babies and thankful they are so healthy. I just can't kiss them enough. I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks when my c-section heals more. I will be able to start doing things that are more active. Right now I am still not supposed to lift anything heavier than the babies which makes taking them anywhere by myself impossible. I am actually looking forward to trying to take them somewhere by myself. Maybe we will start by taking them for a walk around the neighborhood :-). Baby steps. Getting Bigger

Jerame took the day off yesterday and we took the babies to the pediatrician to get their weight checked again. Both babies are doing fantastic and are gaining at the right pace. They have both gained their birth weight back and then some. Carter weighs 6lbs 4oz and Chloe 5lbs 15oz. After our appointment we were all exhausted...it's like running a marathon trying to get us all out of the house. We started the feeding, diaper changing routine at 9:00am and were barely able to make it out of the house by 10:50. It's funny how it's hard to find time to do simple things like go to the bathroom, get some water or take a shower. We are figuring out ways to do everything for ourselves in half the amount of time. We are slowing getting the babies on a schedule and trying to keep them so they are eating/sleeping at the same time. It's not easy. Last night was the first night we put them in their room to sleep. We have them sleeping in the same crib and are doing really well for being just two weeks old! We just can't get any quality sleep at all with them in our room. Especially me, I wake up with every little squeak they make. All in all we are doing fantastic and getting the hang of this taking care of newborn twins thing :-)

First outing

We took this video on 9/1 before our first outing. It was the 1st time we left the house with the babies since taking them to the Dr. We went on a walk around our neighborhood...it was actually so nice and refreshing.

Two weeks tomorrow

The babies turn TWO weeks old tomorrow! It feels like they have been in our life forever though. I just can't imagine life without them here now. We have had an exciting day today...lots of visitors. My cousin Marisa & her family are in town from San Diego and they stopped by to meet the twins. Then my girlfriends Keri, Ashley & Jen brought lunch over for us. It was so nice to catch up with them and hear about the happenings on the outside world. I literally feel so far removed from anything outside of 'baby happenings'. My cousin is coming over to help us out through the night shift tonight which will be nice. She is a nurse at Children's hospital and has lots of experience taking care of twins. My Mom has been here the last 3 nights so it will be nice for her to have a break. Tomorrow I think my Mom & I are going to try taking an adventure in the car somewhere. It will probably end up being to Babies R Us...like I said my life is 100% Mommy now. It's so weird how much things have changed since the arrival of the babies things that seemed to be important pre-babies just are not that important now. I am alone right now for one of the first times with the babies, they are both sleeping quietly. I love watching them sleep it makes all our lack of sleep worth it. They are just so peaceful.

Day 11

Time is going by very quickly, the days just seem to fly by. I really don't even know what we do all day but before I know it it's time to eat dinner....which we don't normally get around to until 9pm. Since coming home from the hospital our days have consisted of feeding, changing diapers and trying to get some sleep here and there. Taking care of two newborns is proving to be the most challenging thing Jerame & I have ever done. I think the hardest part is just the the pure lack of sleep...I think it's enough to make most people feel like they are going a little nuts. Jerame is going back to work tomorrow which I new was coming but can't help but feel just a little bit panicked about how I'm going to handle it on my own. Thankfully my Mom is taking some time off this week and will stay with us so Jerame can get some sleep at night and help me out with the twins during the days. It is going to be an adjustment. Saturday I took my first trip out of the house alone and went to the drug store and went to get a pedicure. It was nice to get out of the house for a bit....although I don't really feel like a normal person yet. Sort of feel like I'm in a daze. Everyone tells me it will take a little bit to feel like myself again...once again I think its a combo of lack of sleep and hormones. We are both 100% exhausted.

The babies are doing great and are just precious & healthy little things. They have completely different personalities. Carter is a good sleeper and eater. He is pretty content most of the time. When he gets mad he is mad but is easily consoled by being held or eating. Chloe is a little more whiny and does not like to lay still. The only way we are getting her to sleep at night is in her bouncy chair or in the swing. It's funny Chloe looks a lot like me (identical to me when I was a baby) & Carter looks like Jerame. I think their personalities mimic us a bit too....it's so wild to think we created these little babies. We love them so much. Both babies love to sleep all day long but by the time the sun goes down they are ready to party. Pretty typical of newborns I think. Tough on parents though. We are getting through the days right now because we have had so much help from family. It feels like it takes an army around here to get most things done. Thank goodness we have one I can't imagine getting through this first part without help. Hopefully I will get a chance to write again soon. It's so hard to find the time.
