We found out we were expecting twins one year ago today! I can't believe how much has changed in just one short year. It really is incredible and feel we have been so very blessed! We were also preparing for our trip to Italy and what turned out to be our "babymoon". What a fantasitic trip that was. I wish we could go back there and relive that trip for just one day! It was so speical. I would also make up for all the wine I didn't get to drink while we were there :-)

Sleeping Buddy
When people ask me what the twins schedule is I really can't give them a good answer at this point. Each day and night just seem to vary so much. I mean don't get me wrong they have an eating schedule which is a bottle every 3 hours or so but when they eat those bottles just totally depends on how the previous nights adventures went and when they got up that morning. For a little while there both babies were sleeping really well but then they got a cold and it has all seemed to get messed up from there. Just when I thought we were getting into the swing of things they have reminded us yet again who is calling the shots. All the books say you can start doing the cry-it-out method at 4 months old. But really can anyone really do that? I think I would rather sleep on the nursery room floor than listen to our babies 'cry themselves to sleep'. Also since we have the babies in the same room I just don't really know how that would work considering more often than not one of them is calm & willing to go to sleep while the other is fighting it with all their might. Carter has been the most difficult to settle down at night lately. Once we finally get him to sleep he will more than likely wake up screaming within an hour or so. It is normally just as I have drifted off to sleep myself that I am awakened by a screaming baby! So I run my way down to their room and try to scoop him up before he wakes up Chloe. Then I normally bring him back to lay in bed with me for what has now turned into the majority of the night. This has been going on for the past couple of weeks now, I know it's turning into a bad habit! It just seems so much easier at 1:00am to put him in bed with me where I know he will sleep rather than getting up a handful more times to comfort him as he wakes up crying every 20 minutes. I have to admit though he is so cuddly to sleep with sometimes I don't really mind! So for now I guess I will just settle with having a sleeping buddy. I know this along with every other little thing we have experienced with the twinnies is just a phase that will pass.
Now onto more exciting things! Carter has discovered this week that he has feet...as you can see in several of the pics below. He is constantly trying to get them into his mouth, it is hilarious. Chloe discovered this week that she can scream. She screams when she is both happy & sad! Such a girl...just sassy as can be! I got a really fun video of her screaming while smiling ear to ear. I will post that later. What a little stinker. I went out to lunch with my Mom & Brother earlier in the week and Chloe screamed just to scream for a good portion of the lunch! Shoot :-) It's pretty funny though so I find myself laughing at her which I think already encourages her to do it more. Both babies are on the verge of rolling over from their back to their tummy. They are both swinging their legs over and to the side all the time. We are thinking about trying some rice cereal this week too, I can't wait! They are discovering each other more and more each day. They are reaching for one another and will try to grab for toys that the other one is holding. Sometimes if they are laying next to each other they will just play with each others hands and try to get them in their mouths its really pretty funny.
Next week they will turn 5 months old...where is the time going?!!!

Two smiling babies!
Growing up so fast
Our babies are growing up right before our eyes! The days of infancy I think are long gone...here we come crawling & walking. I know it's going to happened before we can blink an eye! Each day I feel like more of the differences in their personalities shine through. They are two totally different little people. It's so fun to watch the changes in them as they start to be aware of the world around them. I am just so lucky to be able to stay at home with them during the days. I can't wait for the weather to get nicer in the coming months so I can start taking them places like the zoo. I love being a Mom & feel so blessed to call these two precious and perfect babies ours! They are both starting to be interested in holding their own bottles. I am going to LOVE the day that they actually can hold them. Right now they are still just practicing, its really pretty cute.
Last night I went to a twins Mom's group. There are 8 women and everyone has twins! It was so refreshing to talk with other Moms that have gone through and are going through what I am. I am already looking forward to next weeks meeting. It was really a great group of ladies. Since Jerame's flight was canceled on Sunday he missed the meeting he was going to London for so he actually ended up not traveling at all this week. It has been nice to have him home this week instead of traveling.

Chloe holds her bottle! She was so proud
of herself it was so sweet.

More Snow?
About 4:00 yesterday afternoon I looked outside to see snowflakes falling yet again. By 6:00 we had at least two inches piled up, I just couldn't believe my eyes because I had no idea we were supposed to get more snow. Jerame's flight to London was supposed to leave at 6:30pm but the plane ended up sitting on the runway for 4 hours while they attempted to de-ice and clear the snow off the runway. But after 4 hours of sitting there, they finally decided to cancel the flight & bring the plane back to the gate so everyone could get off. Can you believe that? So needless to say by the time he got home at 11:30 last night he was just a little bit frustrated. Thankfully most the snow is gone today!

4 month Check Up
The babies had their 4 month old well-baby visit to the Doctor on Friday. We were scheduled to do this appointment before Christmas since they actually turned 4 months 12/21 but because of the weather the appointment was canceled. The babies checked out just perfect and are growing at a normal pace. Carter now weighs 13lbs. 8oz. and Chloe 12lbs. 4oz. They are both in the 25th percentile now for weight and 50 for height. Both babies seem to be right on track for development also. We decided to wait until next week to give them their 4 month round of shots. We figured it might just be too hard on them considering they are still sick. They both slept better last night which was good, I think they are slowly getting over their cold. Last time they got their shots it took them 3 days to feel normal again I think. Jerame is going to London today for work. This is his first big trip since the babies were born. I am nervous about how I will handle it on my own for a week...especially since they have been sick. Thankfully I do have help from family lined up and will never have to do the nights by myself which is great. Although it will be exhuasting for both Jerame & I, it will go by quick. We have had such a nice and long weekend I just don't want it to end!

Babies first Christmas
We had such a lovely Christmas holiday we spent lots of time with both of our families. This year will be a very memorable one for us because it was our babies first Christmas and also because we had so much snow. It just seemed to keep snowing and snowing. We still have snow on the ground in our neighborhood. I feel so thankful to be able to drive in my car again though, it was getting a little old being stranded at home for so many days in a row.
We have had a rough past couple of days...our precious little angels have had colds. I have to say as a Mom watching your kids be sick and not knowing how to help them is the worst feeling I have ever felt in my life. There were a few times over the coarse of the last few days that Jerame has had to tell me to get it together because I start crying when the baby starts crying. I just feel so bad for them! They seem to be doing better today and are both sleeping right now. My Dad & Shelly came to take care of them for the evening last night while Jerame and I went out to ring in the new year. It was so generous of them to come and spend the evening taking care of our sick babies. They did such a great job! We are so lucky to have so many Grandparents around to help us! Here a some pics from our holiday.

My Grandma had this portrait drawn for us during
her trip to South America. She surprised us with it on
Christmas Eve. It will be something we cherish for a lifetime.

not holding a baby at our house!
We finally put together the babies play-center that
Uncle Matt got them when they were born. They almost
like it...I think a few more weeks and they will be
big enough to really enjoy it.
