More Baby Pics

We had our 2nd apt at the Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic on Thursday it went good, it was very long ... 3 hours! They did extensive measuring on both babies, everything from the bones to the organs. Both babies weigh aprox 6oz & are about 4 1/2 inches. They confirmed again that yes they are definitely a boy & a girl. After my 2 hour ultrasound I met with our Perinatologist, these doctors have I think 4 to 5 years additional obstetrical training and focus specifically on higher than normal risk pregnancies. This was the first time I got to meet this Dr. and I talked with him for about an hour. Jerame actually had to leave during the ultrasound because he had meetings to get to….we were not expecting such a long visit. I was very pleased with how through & professional he was, he was so knowledgeable on twins pregnancies and gave me lots of useful information. He said that our babies look perfect so far but that they are just a little on the small side. Nothing to be concerned about yet because I still have a lot of time to bulk them up :-). He pretty much just told me that my body type really isn't set-up to have twins so I'm going to have to work extra hard to accommodate them. I have been instructed to pick up the pace with calorie and protein intake. So I'm back on the protein shakes, I think I will need to drink at least 2 to 4 a day depending on what else I am able to get down. We go back for our next ultrasound in 3 weeks, it is so crazy how often we get to see our little babies jumping and swimming around on the screen. It is hard to believe that soon we will have both a son and a daughter….we already love them so much and feel so incredibly blessed. I can already tell the boy is going to be a little tease, he is constantly bumping and squishing the girl…..it's hard to tell if they are aware of eachother it seems like they would have to be. I have started feeling some movements but it's kind of hard to tell and if I'm not really paying attention I don't think I even notice. They are very inconsistent, today I think I have felt the most moving around yet. The Dr. told us that in the next couple of weeks their movements will become unmistakable. We ordered our cribs today! It felt so good to get a start on things. I am slightly daunted by all we have to do to prepare for two babies, it's hard to even know where to start!

17 Weeks

Well I think I can safely say I finally feel good. I have had several consecutive days of feeling normal so I think I am over the hump. We had salmon for dinner the other night (which I actually wanted) so that is when I definitely knew things were looking up with my appetite! Even the smell of fish just a few weeks ago would have sent me running for the bathroom. I can't believe I am already 17 weeks….the start of my 5th month. Wow. Time is really going so quick. I am waiting for this pregnancy to slow down so I can actually get a hold of the fact that we need to prepare to have two babies. I don't think that is going to happen though seeing how fast the past 17 weeks have gone. I have just now started feeling 'pregnant'. I have more of a bump now and I feel like I am getting through the 'just feeling fat' stage. It's so crazy how much the body changes in preparation for baby making. It's pretty much a miracle but definitely something that takes a little getting used too. I was with my mom the other day and I was looking in the mirror at myself and I was like whose body is this anyway…...she said "not yours anymore"! HA! I thought that was funny….but it's so very true. We are going for another ultrasound tomorrow, these are our favorite appointments. I'll post pictures tomorrow!
This happened in the last few days!

PINK & BLUE

I went to the Dr. today because I was having some weird pain in my abdominal area. My Dr. didn't seem too concerned but since I am "high on their radar" (because of the twinies factor) they proceeded to do an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech asked if we wanted to know the sexes of the babies and I said YES of course!!!! She first looked at baby A and said "It's a GIRL" …. . As most of you know Jerame has been surrounded by girls his whole life so the thought of him having two twin daughters would just be comical. Anyway, the tech checked baby B out and she said, "It's a BOY"!!!!!!! It couldn't be more perfect. Both babies are measuring perfect and are the exact same size which is good because it means they are being equally nourished. The pictures we got are not very clear so I will wait to post more until next week when we go to the other Doctor. Oh and as it turns out the pain I have been feeling is just normal growing pains….nothing to be concerned about.

Slowly Better

Things seem to be getting better slowly for me. I hope I am not one of those people that experiences the nausea their entire pregnancy. I have had a few good days mixed in with the bad but am finding that feeling better is coming very slowly for me. I was in bed practically all weekend, I felt like I had the flu but nope....just pregnant. Thankfully Jerame is a wonderful support, I am so blessed to have him by my side. He is so sweet cooking for me and waiting on me (I guess really not a lot has changed). He has an amazing amount of patience, as I probably have not been the easiest person to be around lately. We are off to Denver this weekend to visit Jerame's family. The main purpose of our trip is to attend an ALS benefit dinner that Jerame's Uncle Brad puts on. Sadly he was diagnosed with the disease a few years ago and now has strongly focused his energy towards research for the cure. The diagnosis has been a devastating blow to our family, as it has been for everyone affected by Brad's illness. Regardless we are hopeful for the future and are happy to get to spend some time with him this weekend. He truly is an amazing person...someone we all look up too. We are really excited to see everyone else too!Next week we have another Ultrasound scheduled at the Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic, we are excited because it's possible that we just might be able to find out the Sex's of the babies!!!! If not this next apt it will surely be the next one in 4 more weeks. We can't wait to start shopping & thinking about names.

Little Bump - 14 weeks

We had another Dr. apt this afternoon. It was fairly quick they just checked my weight, answered our questions and most importantly listened for the heartbeats. It is so amazing to hear their hearts beating away. They are on the high end of 'normal' with means they are good and strong. My Dr. said she thinks they are very active babies. I have started feeling more like myself in the past few days. I have been able to eat almost normally and it feels so good to have a little more energy. I feel like I have been in a fog the past 3 months and am slowly but surely coming out of it! My mom and I had a great trip to Florida, it was quick but fun. The weather was beautiful and sunny.... makes me excited for Spring.
Bella always needs her picture taken if the camera comes out. She is such a sweet girl.
